It’s official: YouTube Shorts will now be monetized! But what does this mean for creators, what are the requirements, and have any major policies changed? Let’s discuss all of this below.
Does YouTube Shorts make money?
Traditional forms of revenue generation were not possible with YouTube Shorts before 2023. A not-to-be-sniffed-at $100 million was distributed to the top creators on the platform by the YouTube Shorts Monetization Fund.
On February 1, 2023, YouTube Shorts monetization became available to most creators, but what about the little guys? The up-and-comers? This is because a new advertising revenue-sharing model for Shorts replaced the YouTube Shorts Monetization Fund.
Monetization requirements for YouTube Shorts in 2023.
You’ll need to do some reading to learn how to monetize YouTube Shorts. Because the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), in which content creators can join to earn money on youtube, is rolling out updated terms and conditions.
You must concur with these changes by July 10, 2023, to continue participating in the YPP. You must read and agree to these terms even if you do not intend to profit from YouTube Shorts specifically. Opting into the monetization modules listed below is the update’s main focus.
Watch the Page Monetization Module continue profiting from any ads shown on your lengthy, live-streamed, and YouTube Premium content.
YouTube Shorts can be monetized with the Shorts Monetization Module. Ads that will play in-between Shorts in the Shorts feed are where the money comes from. To complete channel monetization you can take help from https://www.buyyoutubesubscribers.in/product/youtube-channel-monetization/.
It just means that additional features like Channel Memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks will be covered for monetization, even though the phrase “Commerce Product Addendum” may sound confusing. If you already use these features, you won’t need to agree again because these terms haven’t changed.
To fully utilize everything available, YouTube advises that you choose to participate in each of these modules.
How to activate the monetization of YouTube shorts?
If you missed the memo, you must go to YouTube Studio on your web browser to accept the terms instead of Youtube app. Once you have accepted the terms and conditions, you needn’t worry – YouTube Shorts is already monetized.
Can I make money off of YouTube Shorts if I have 1,000 subscribers?
The good news is that 1,000 subscribers are all you need to start making money off YouTube Shorts. Unfortunately, you must have viewed 10 million genuine Shorts in the previous 90 days to qualify. If you reach that threshold, you can enable ads and keep 45% of the designated ad revenue for your Shorts videos, with the remaining 45% going to YouTube.
What are the rates for YouTube Shorts ads?
Given that there isn’t a set formula to determine how much money you’ll make for every 1,000 views of your YouTube Shorts, it’s impossible to predict how much money you’ll make. (We are confident that someone will think of one soon!).
There is no verified information from YouTube, despite some claims that the rate is approximately $0.04% per 1,000 views.
Whatever you manage to make, though, will be subject to YouTube’s standard 45 per cent cut of the gross amount. It’s very important thing that is to be noted that theYouTube Shorts monetization will only get applied to views that are counted after you’ve agreed to the new terms and conditions, so regrettably, old Shorts views will not generate any revenue.
Why can’t I make money off of my YouTube shorts?
A few things will cut off your money right away. You are not eligible to earn if you have repurposed content for YouTube Shorts. You won’t be able to make any money from anything that isn’t original, whether it be another creator’s work or a TV show clip. The same goes for any YouTube Shorts with artificially inflated views due to click fraud or bots.
Use our music to soundtrack your YouTube Shorts so you can earn money off of them. When you subscribe to Epidemic Sound, all necessary permissions to use our music and sound effects in your published content are also granted.

How does Revenue Sharing For YouTube Shorts Operate?
In contrast to conventional video content, shorts have a different system for sharing ad revenue.
First, the money made from the ads that run in between Shorts on the YouTube Shorts feed will be combined.
Then, based on views and music usage across all watched Shorts, a percentage of the total revenue will be distributed to a “creator pool”.
The money from the Creator Pool will then be distributed to qualified creators based on their percentage of all views.
The percentage of revenue allotted to monetising creators from Shorts is 45%.
These models, not just the videos with commercials next to them, are said to be the creators’ rewards for their contributions to the entire Shorts experience, according to YouTube.
The Revenue tab in YouTube Studio Analytics will display your daily estimated revenue and views by content type to see your Shorts earnings and performance.
You can see your earnings from Shorts, videos, and live content in greater detail.
